The meetup featured two insightful talk sessions. The first session consisted of invited speakers providing an overview of key topics in ML:
- Optimization, Generative Models & Reinforcement Learning by Alberto Bernacchia (MediaTek Research)
- Open-Endedness, Generative Interactive Environments, Automated Prompt Engineering, and AI Debate by Tim Rocktäschel (UCL/Google DeepMind)
- Scientific AI for the Physical Sciences by Jason McEwen (UCL DISI)
- Detecting the Use of Copyrighted Materials in LLMs by Yves-Alexandre de Montjoye (Imperial College London)
This was followed by a second session showcasing presentations of papers related to the International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML) from Eduardo Pignatelli (UCL), Matias Altamirano (UCL), Francesco Pinto (Oxford), Fangru Lin (Oxford), and Victor Prokhorov and Shreshth Tuli (Happening).
The event also featured a poster session, followed by a vibrant networking event that generated inspiring discussions on AI research and fostered new connections between industry and academia in the UK. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the speakers and everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the event.
Finally, a very special thanks to our co-organizers at UCL for their unparalleled effort in helping the day run smoothly: Elizabeth De-Ben Rockson, Gabriel Facini, Edoardo Critelli, and Sam Van Stroud.
